Submitting this form sends a report to staff on the ISU Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT). ISU BIT reviews complex, cross-unit safety and disruption concerns that do not fall clearly under the jurisdiction of one Iowa State University office. This form is not for emergencies— call 911 or ISU Police for immediate safety threats. BIT is appropriate for:
- Concerning, escalating, or “red flag” behavior that does not clearly violate policy or law
- Situations involving multiple offices or departments
- Safety or disruption concerns involving students, former students, employees, or visitors where no single office clearly has jurisdiction
BIT does not conduct investigations and does not serve as a disciplinary body. The multidisciplinary team reviews concerns and meets to consider referrals and recommendations to appropriate offices.
Do NOT use this form for:
- Routine student conduct violations – use Student Conduct incident report form
- Student well-being concerns – contact Student Assistance (SAFE-T), Student Counseling, or ISU PD
- Faculty/staff workplace issues – contact Provost Office or University Human Resources
- Discrimination or harassment – report to Equal Opportunity / Title IX Coordinator
- Immediate safety concerns – call 911, ISU Police, or Ames Police Department
Review other campus reporting options through Iowa State's Report It Webpage.
