Conflict is a normal part of life, and at Iowa State University, we understand that navigating disagreements or tension can sometimes be challenging. To support students in developing healthy and effective ways to manage conflict, the Office of Student Conduct offers Conflict Coaching.
What is conflict coaching?
Conflict Coaching is a private, voluntary process where you work one-on-one with a trained coach. Conflict Coaching focuses entirely on your perspective and the actions you can take to manage the situation, rather than trying to control or change the other person’s behavior.
A typical conflict coaching session typically includes:
- Exploring your current situation and the factors contributing to the conflict.
- Identifying realistic, personalized strategies and developing conflict management skills.
- Developing a plan for managing the conflict going forward.
How it works:
- Complete the Conflict Coaching Request Form by clicking the button located at the bottom of this page.
- A conflict coach will review your request to ensure you are connected with appropriate resources.
- A conflict coach will connect with you through your university email to schedule a conflict coaching session.
- You will complete your conflict coaching session.
- Your conflict coach will follow up with you a week after your meeting to discuss management of the conflict.
